Ambassador Barbara Bodine is Director of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy and a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University. Ambassador Bodine served in Iraq and Kuwait as Deputy Chief of Mission, and as Ambassador to Yemen from 1997 through 2001. She was Director of East African Affairs, in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and Dean of Professional Studies at the Foreign Service Institute. Since leaving the Foreign Service, Ambassador Bodine has been a Senior Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, the Wilhelm Fellow at MIT and, for seven years, lecturer and Director at Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Ambassador Bodine holds a master’s from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
