2011 Academic WorldQuest

Academic WorldQuest is a flagship program of the national network of World Affairs Councils, located in more than 90 communities across the country. It is a team game testing high school students' knowledge of international affairs, current events, human geography, world history, and culture.

After months of studying the ten topics, approximately 3000 students across the country participate in competitions hosted by local World Affairs Councils. Winning teams are invited to represent their high school, city, and local council at the spirited national competition, held in the spring each year at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

In the game, four-person teams compete by answering rounds of questions projected onto a screen. A full competition is 100 questions, divided into ten rounds with distinct thematic categories. The winning team is the team with the most right answers.

This year, the Richmond World Affairs Council Regional Academic WorldQuest Competition will tentatively take place during the last week of November, and the National Academic WorldQuest competition will take place in Washington DC on 04/30/2012.

Please download and complete the Team Form and return it to The World Affairs Council by 10/01/2011. The form can be returned to us at PO Box 2940, Glen Allen VA 23058, by fax at 804-968-7900, or scanned and emailed to Kendra@richmondworldaffairs.org

We will then contact each coach with more details about preparing for the competition, and distribute the 2011-2012 AWQ Study Guide.

Please include your four team members as well as one alternate in the event of sickness or emergency.
Good luck!
